16 Dec 2017, STONEHARD

"Industrial and Technology Park" is planned to be built in Varna in South Industrial Zone "Ostrova" (in the island part of the city).

The project will be implemented by the Municipality of Varna, which provides a land of 41 680 sq.m. with access to the Black Sea and the National Industrial Zone Company, which will build the infrastructure.

The project was discussed during the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Economy Alexander Manolev with representatives of the region's business.

They believe that with the new industrial zone, Varna will have a new growth of investments and new revealed work places.

The interest of investors is caused by the key location of the Industrial Park, with fast access to water, rail, road and air transport.

Moreover, Varna has very good macroeconomic indicators. The GDP per capita in Varna is higher than the average for the country - BGN 12,517 per person and the gross salaries in the area exceed BGN 10,000 per year, keeping Varna fifth in the country on this indicator. The seniorists in the area are 30%, and undoubtedly the advantage is that Varna is an established tourist center, Deputy Minister Manolev reports.

During the discussion, the opportunities for applying for the Operational Program "Innovation and Competitiveness" were discussed, as in the last programming period 2007 - 2013, about 150 local companies have implemented projects worth a total of about BGN 100 mln.
